How did you meet?
Met in the city of London, late at night at a Chinese karaoke bar. That’s kinda explains the meet! Engagement was in a maze in Barcelona, Sophie gets lost easily & she found me on one knee!
How long did you have to plan your wedding?
5 months, we’re leave till the last minute people – we luckily got a cancellation!
Why did you choose Polhawn Fort?
Stunning views and cosy, good for any weather.
Did you add any DIY elements to your day?
Nope, we didn’t feel we needed to – Polhawn, as it is perfect.
Did you have a colour scheme theme?
Yellow for Spring
Ray Charles – ‘Hallelujah I love her so’
How did you feel before you walked down the aisle?
Ok… until I saw one of the groomsmen grinning and then it was a case of holding it together.
Gavs impromptu song with the band reminding me I didn’t marry for his voice!
Funniest thing that happened?
Groomsmen ran out of petrol driving 1 mile from church to fort, kissing photos and only saved by a farmer in a tractor passing by!!
What traditions did you include?
In the truest English fashion, everyone got drunk and someone had to go to hospital!
Best tips / advice?
Plan to enjoy the day after at the Fort too, it was as fun for us as the wedding day. The Devonport is a lovely pub for drinks the night before for guests to see some of the town. Use Jim as much as you can, he makes the day go smoothly.
Anything you’d change or wish you knew before?
Spend less time on photos and more consultation and planning with caterers to make day go smoother.
Did you discover any amazing suppliers that you’d like to share?
Ruth the Florist was excellent and accommodated last minute changes and we had custom pasties Friary Mill with our initials on.
3 words to describe your day
(Lots of Port at the Fort)
(Guests were impressed with the view)
(Very informal and staff supportive to do make the wedding whatever we wanted)
